Methodology
CarBulbFinder is built as a fitment lookup database. The goal is to make likely bulb sizes easy to find while clearly showing where users should verify trim, package, and vehicle-specific details.
Data Sources
Bulb-size records may be compiled from:
- manufacturer-style bulb references
- aftermarket bulb catalogs
- public compatibility data
- supplier fitment charts
- user-submitted corrections
Normalization
Raw catalog data often mixes bulb codes, aliases, and product labels. Our cleanup process separates the bulb code from upgrade wording, standardizes equivalent naming where possible, removes duplicate makes and models, and flags values that look like product categories instead of real bulb codes.
Known Limitations
Vehicle lighting is not always identical across every trim or market. Fitment can vary because of:
- trim-level differences
- factory HID or LED packages
- regional variations
- production-year splits
- aftermarket housings or previous owner modifications
Correction Process
Corrections should include the vehicle year, make, model, trim, lighting position, observed bulb code, and how the code was verified. Higher-quality submissions include owner manual references, photos of the bulb base, or clear product fitment documentation.
